How to Do a Digital Detox
Medications and other drugs aren’t the only things you need to detox. Sometimes, technology just gets to be too much!
What is a digital detox? A digital detox is essentially breaking away from technology and going primitive for some amount of time. We’ll teach you more, including how to do one on your own, if you keep reading below!
The Importance of the Detox
When it comes to medications, sometimes it’s necessary to stop for a few days while your body recovers. The same goes for technology.
By taking a step back from computers and other electronics for a day or two and embracing nature, you essentially run a “factory reset” on the human body, enabling yourself to better cope with the stresses and electronic irritants in your ordinary life.
First and foremost, you’ll need to plan. Planning time away from your normal life is an indispensable part of the process. Few things are more upsetting than coming home from a nice, relaxing camping trip to discover that your family has filed a missing persons report and your job has fired you for not calling in.
To avoid situations like this, make sure to tell everybody where you’re going and what you’re doing.
Next, you’re going to want to give yourself something to do, preferably something physical. Whether it’s a hike, a fishing trip, or a carpentry project, just make sure that your mind is occupied throughout the duration and you keep clear of electronics.
While the specifics of each plan and execution vary from person to person, individual to individual, these are the two primary steps in performing a digital detox.
